Emmelyn Gunawan started her career as a retailer of various international boutiques spread across Indonesia and SEA. Her passion into weaving grew during her sabbatical year in 2017 in Melbourne, Australia and permeates into her current various projects. Emmelyn’s love of experimenting with natural dyes is projected into her clothing label, Canaan, that continues to support local artisans spread across Indonesia.

AUSTRALIA WAS SPECIFICALLY SOURCED FOR THIS PIECE, ALONGSIDE MANY
OTHER LOCALLY PRODUCED INDIGO-DYED THREADS. THE DESIGN AND COLOR
COMBINATION OF THE PIECE DEPICTS THE NATURE OF THE LAND OF WURUNDJERI.
